Our History
Aurecon's history began in 1934.
Our history began in 1934 in Sydney, Australia, with the founding of A. S. Macdonald and Wagner by eminent engineers Alex Macdonald and Eric Wagner.
In 1989, a merger with the Connell Group (formerly John Connell & Associates) formed the Connell Wagner Group and brought together two of Australia’s largest consulting engineering companies. Through a series of mergers, Connell Wagner became one of Asia Pacific’s largest multidisciplinary engineering companies by 2008.
The Aurecon brand was created in 2009, through a merger of Connell Wagner with two African based businesses.
In October 2019, faced with changing conditions in Africa, where global models are no longer considered an advantage, Aurecon decided to demerge its African business.
